Three Filipino Talents Sizzle in the Top Ten

October 24, 2008

For the first time in 31 weeks three Filipino artist occupy slots in the top ten of Philippines Hot 100. The last time this happened was back on chart date March 22, 2008 where Urbandub's "Evidence," Sandwich's "Procrastinator" and Kyla's "I Don't Want You To Go" were at No. 6, No. 7 and No. 10 respectively.

The acts are leaded by Sponge Cola with "Puso" at No. 6. The single was taken from their third studio album Sponge Cola and is the theme song of ABS-CBN's afternoon Koreanovela Basketball Tribe. This is the band's second top ten hit and their highest peaking single yet.

Sponge Cola is followed by Bamboo with "Kailan," a single from their fourth studio album Tomorrow Becomes Yesterday. "Kailan" is the bands first original material since 2005. This is the first top ten appearance of the band in the Hot 100. The single sits at No. 7.

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 1st runner-up Bugoy Drilon completes the list with "Paano Na Kaya" at No. 10. "Paano Na Kaya" is, so far, the highest charting song from Scholars Sing Cayabyab. Drilon is only the second artist that came from a Philippine reality-based search to peak inside the top ten.

Lock in for this week's result.
