Sarah back with 'Just Me', answers issue about 'Very Special Love'

After the hit debut film "A Very Special Love" with John Lloyd Cruz, Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronino is back with her latest offering, an album titled "Sarah Geronimo: Just Me."

"My new album is entitled 'Just Me' it has 16 songs and its carrier single is 'I'll Be There' a duet with Howie Dorough," the singer said.

Dorough is a Backstreet Boy member who is set to visit Manila this September 23 to do the music video of “I'll Be There” with Geronimo.

The album according to Geronimo would be released nationwide September 12, Friday.

"Bakit just me? Kasi I'm just giving you the real me. Kasi this album, I'm more involved in making this album, I had my participation,” she said.

Geronimo said that for the latest album she also has the say on how she will deliver the songs unlike what she did in her past albums that she just does whatever her vocal coach and her producer asked her to do.

She said that as a mature artist she ahs the right to do what she wants and say what she likes for her album.

"Itong album na ito masasabi ko talaga na I enjoyed doing this album kasi gusto ko ang music at kakaiba frrom previous ones that I've done... maraming upbeat songs na gusting-gusto kong ginagawa kung mapapanood niyo sa ASAP. Hindi ba sobra akong nag-e-enjoy when I sing and dance," she said.

Bea's praise

The singer-turned actress, who might be this year’s Box Office Queen with certified Box Office King John Lloyd Cruz, said that she's really thrilled that Cruz's long-time on-screen partner Bea Alonzo enjoyed watching the movie "A Very Special Love."

Alonzo, in a recent interview, said that she was really moved by the film and expressed her admiration for Geronimo.

"Kapag nagkikita kami ni Bea sinasabi niya ang ganda-ganda ng movie, nakakatuwa kasi ang isang Bea Alonzo para mapapanood mo nang ganoon at mapasaya mo ay iba 'yon nakakatuwa nakakatuwa po," Geronimo explained.

Geronimo admitted that she heard that there was a plan for a follow-up movie with Cruz but she said she is not sure when it will happen.

"May plano po pero hindi pa confirmed," she said.

She said that if given a chance to do another movie again with Cruz, she is willing to do it.

She also reacted on the issue that her movie is being compared to KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez' film "For The First Time."   "Kakalabas lang ng 'For the First' Time, ‘yong sa amin ang tagal na nito, July pa. Huwag nating i-compare kasi magkaibang-magkaiba ang pelukula, magkaiba ang istorya," she pleaded.

While she said that she is happy that her movie is now on its seventh week she expressed disappointed that some people compared the achievement of her movie to the success of “For The Fist Time.”

"’Yun po ang hirap sa ating Pinoy laging may comparison. Huwag muna po tayong magbigay ng conclusion tulad ng sinabi ko magkaiba ang bawat bagay ang bawat tao iba ang ginawa ni John Lloyd at iba yung ginawa ni Richard at KC. Sana ay i-appreciate ng tao at huwag nang bigyan ng kahulugan kung ano ang nangyayari ngayon," she added.

Geronimo said that she is happy with the success of KC and Richard's film and shared that she even attended its premiere night.

Next superstar

Some moviegoers, film critics and people from entertainment media said that Geronimo may be the next Superstar. Geronimo however was unaware that she is being tagged as the next Nora Aunor.

"Talaga po? Kumbaga wala pa ito sa kalingkingan ni Ms. Nora Aunor. Kung ano man po ‘yong mga achiements niya at saka unang sabak ko pa lang ito sa pelikula wala pa akong napapatunayan.  Kumbaga, kumbaga tsumamba," said Geronimo.

She added that she can only prove her appeal on silver screen if her next movie would also be a hit.

Geronimo who started her career by joining a singing contest on television has her next concert dubbed as "The Next One" set on November 8.

"Bakit ‘The Next One’? Kasi po I'm hoping na ako po ‘yong the next one that you will love, parang ganoon po kaya ‘The Next One’ itong concert na ito," she said.

For her concert, Cruz would also be there as her special guest. "Guest po siya. Bibirit siya. Mentor ko ‘yon," she joked.

"The Next One" would be directed by Johnny Manahan with Louie Ocampo as the musical director.

Aside from her weekly performance on weekly entertainment show, ASAP ’08, you could also watch Geronimo in her out-of-town shows.

This September 12, she is set to perform in the province of Albay with singer Mark Bautista.
